I'm no Apple guy either, but there has to be some convergance on trouble shooting to ascertain just where the asset in question began to degrade

They're not running any windows compatability programs so I doubt those were the cause of the problem. It found a few Windows virus executables (which I removed), but nothing else. I initially suspected some malware had gotten installed, so I downloaded, installed & ran clamxav. She told me that sometimes some of her emails or files get deleted, though I suspect that may just be one or the other of them doing that accidentally. Their ISP stated that there hasn't been any unusual activity coming from their IP address. Apparently on Sundays it is almost unusable. The other thing going on is that the computer gets extremely slow at certain times.
It seems like someone has gotten control over the machine & is just messing with them, but it only happens when the machine has been turned off. They've found them rearranged in various patterns including "V", "X", "+", circles, triangles, squares, & more.
Normally my father-in-law's icons are on the left & my mother-in-law's icons are on the right. My in-law's computer is exhibiting some strange behavior, unfortunately it's a Mac (running OS X 10.5.8) & I don't have much experience with Macs so I hoping to get some additional opinions about what could be going on.įrequently, when they turn on the computer, the icons on the desktop are re-arranged oddly.
